The United States will discuss the situation at Incirilik air base following a failed coup attempt in Turkey at the upcoming counter Daesh ministerial in Washington, DC, US Special Envoy for the Counter-Daesh Coalition Brett McGurk told reporters on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Electricity to the air base used by the US-led coalition has been disconnected since Saturday, when it was cut off during a coup attempt against the Turkish government by elements of the Turkish armed forces.

"In terms of Incirilik, the latest information I have is that there have not been significant disruptions in in overall operations," McGurk stated. "We are working through some of those power issues and making sure that we have generators going until power is restored…and we’ll have talks with the Turks throughout the course of the week through the ministerial."

In July 2015, Turkey agreed to open up Incirlik to US manned and unmanned aircraft to conduct anti-terror operations in Syria against Daesh positions.

The terror group, also known as Daesh in Arabic, is outlawed in the Russian Federation among a host of other nations.

The ministerial meeting of leaders of US-led coalition against the Islamic State will take place in Washington, DC on July 21.
