Qatari Foreign Minister Says Brought Emir’s Message on Syria to Putin
BOCHAROV RUCHEY (Sputnik) – The Qatari diplomat conveyed Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s message earlier over the developments in the Middle East, particularly in Syria.

"We agreed on the need to preserve the unity of Syria and its territorial integrity," Al-Thani said after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi.

"The Syrian people have been suffering from the crisis for the past five years, and we need to join forces, all of us, to put an end to this crisis and to punish those who are guilty of it," Al-Thani added.

He is scheduled to travel to Paris on Monday, where French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault plans to meet counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates as a group of supporters of the Saudi-formed Syrian opposition that stormed out of the April round of intra-Syrian negotiations.
