China Set to Deepen Ties With Russia Regardless of International Situation

China will further develop its comprehensive ties with Russia regardless of the situation in the world.

SHENZHEN (Sputnik) – Despite the constantly changing situation on the international arena, China is set to deepen its strategic partnership with Russia, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong stressed at a meeting with Sergei Naryshkin, the speaker of Russia's lower house of parliament.

"In the context of a complex and changing international situation, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian officials have achieved invariability in Russian-Chinese relations," Yandong said on Friday.

Speaking in Shenzhen, the Chinese vice premier stressed that her country will not change its intention to strengthen and deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation with Russia.

Yandong added that China is looking forward to the June visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Naryshkin said that Moscow assesses the level of strategic partnership development with China as very high and regards it as key to the security and stability of the Asia-Pacific region and the world as a whole. Naryshkin also pointed to active humanitarian cooperation development between Russia and China.

Head of the foreign affairs committee of the lower house of Russia's parliament (State Duma) Alexei Pushkov said on Thursday that Russia and China may reach important agreements during Putin's upcoming visit to China.

The delegation of Russian lawmakers headed by Naryshkin is on an official visit to China on May 5-6.
