BEIJING (Sputnik) – According to the Chinese foreign minister, Beijing will promote cooperation with Russia in the spheres of energy, innovation and production facilities.
"Despite certain external negative factors, we believe that Russian-Chinese practical cooperation is highly complementary," Wang Yi told reporters on Friday.
According to the foreign minister, last year’s fall in the trade turnover between China and Russia is linked to a drop in prices on goods on the international market.
"We will stimulate multifaceted practical cooperation in every possible way within the framework of national development strategy and the pairing of the Silk Road to the EAEU [Eurasian Economic Union]," Wang Yi stressed.
Wang Yi also said that China expects a lot from the upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Beijing, planned for June.
"It is the most important political event for Russian-Chinese relations," Wang Yi stressed.
