Putin Discusses Mid-East Crisis, Syria Talks With Russia's Security Council

President Vladimir Putin and Russia's Security Council discussed the crisis in the Middle East as well as the economic situation in Russia and upcoming parliamentary elections.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed on Thursday with members of Russia's Security Council the political settlement of the Middle East crisis and the deterioration of the situation at the Syria proximity talks in Geneva, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"The participants of the meeting discussed the settlement of the Middle East crisis in light with the president's recent talks with PNA leader Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu," Peskov said.

"They also expressed serious concern over the deterioration of the situation at the Syria proximity talks in Geneva," he added.

According to Peskov, the agenda of the meeting included discussion of the current economic situation in Russia as well as the preparation for upcoming parliamentary elections in the country.
