Tehran wants Russia to find out whether there is any interest on Riyadh's side to normalize relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the Iranian foreign minister said.

DAVOS (Switzerland), (Sputnik) — Iran expects Russia to find out if Saudi Arabia is ready to make steps toward Tehran after they broke diplomatic ties, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif told Sputnik on Thursday.

"We have no problem working with anybody, because we did not break our relations with Saudi Arabia. But we encourage our friends to make suggestions to the Saudis to see whether there is any interest on their side, because their actions have always been provocative," Zarif said.

Earlier this month, Russia offered to mediate the normalization of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia. The Saudi government delegate participating in the WEF refused to provide comments on the matter.
