BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — On Saturday, the parties to the Libyan conflict agreed to sign a deal on December 16 to form a national unity government.
"We expect the Libyan process to bring some results in the coming days," Mogherini told reporters before a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels.
She added that, at the meeting, the EU member states' top diplomats would be discussing the support package that the European Union is ready to provide to the Libyan authorities once the national unity government is formed.
Libya has been in turmoil since early 2011, when protests led to a civil war and the overthrow of long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi. There are two rival governments in the country, one that is internationally recognized and based in Tobruk, and a self-proclaimed government in the former capital of Tripoli.
