NATO Jets to Police Skies Over Baltics Near Russian Border
Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets of the German Air Force currently deployed to the Amari Air Base will conduct daily training flight at low altitudes over Estonia during this week, the General Staff of the Defense Forces reported.
"Training flight will carried out at an altitude of less than 152 meters, far from populated areas over the Gulf of Riga and middle and eastern parts of Estonia," according to the report.

Pilots of the German Air Force and four Eurofighter Typhoon jets were deployed to protect the airspace of the Baltics in August. This week’s flights are the fourth for German jets in the mission.
The Baltic countries do not have aircraft appropriate for aerial policing. This is why since 2004 when they joined NATO their airspace has been protected by jets of NATO countries on a rotational basis.
They are deployed to the Zokniai air base, near the northern Lithuanian city of Siauliai. The Amari base has served as an additional airfield for NATO jets since 2014.
