The Russian foreign minister is set to meet his German counterpart on the sidelines of the OSCE session in Belgrade later on Friday.

BELGRADE (Sputnik) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet later on Friday with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier on the sidelines of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Foreign Ministers session in Belgrade, a source in the Russian delegation said.

“Sergei Lavrov will meet with German Foreign Minister Steinmeier on Friday on the sidelines of the OSCE Foreign Ministers session,” the source said.

The Serbian capital is currently hosting the OSCE Ministerial Council conference. The annual meeting provides foreign ministers for the 57 OSCE member nations and 11 partner states with the opportunity to assess the past year’s activities and address global security.

Lavrov and Steinmeier have been engaged in a number of bilateral and multilateral international talks and meetings on a range of issues, including the Syrian conflict and the Ukrainian reconciliation.

Last month, the two foreign ministers discussed both issues in a phone conversation. The talks followed a November 6 Normandy Quartet meeting on Ukraine.
