APEC's 21 member economies, accounting for more than 50 percent of global GDP and some 40 percent of the world's population, will hold their annual leaders' summit on November 18 and 19 to review the progress made over the year in meeting the forum's objectives and work out a new action plan.
“I can confirm that Russia will be represented at the APEC Summit in Manila by the head of the Russian government. This is because the head of the government has additional contacts planned in the southeastern Asian region, of which the government will reveal, and due to this, the president made the decision from the point of view of optimizing the schedules of the country’s leadership,” Peskov told journalists.
Peskov added that Putin’s article will be published for the APEC Summit.
“In line with the APEC Summit agenda and as a whole, the article deals with cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. The article will be released on the eve of the summit and will be published in the leading mass media in APEC countries,” Peskov said.
Prior to the leaders' summit next Wednesday, senior APEC officials, trade and foreign ministers from the forum's member states, as well as business leaders will hold a series of intense discussions scheduled back-to-back, starting from November 13.
