MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Moscow is seeking to mutually promote cooperation with all political forces in Turkey, including those that won the recent parliamentary elections, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.
"We stand for the promotion of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation with Turkey of a multidimensional nature. We expect further joint work on promoting our partnership in all areas, and we hope that this mutual desire is shared by all political forces in Turkey, and primarily those forces that won the elections," Peskov told journalists.
On Sunday, snap parliamentary elections took place in Turkey. The ruling Turkish Justice and Development Party (AKP) secured a majority of seats in parliament and would be able to form a single-party government.
The Republican People's Party (CHP), Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), as well as Turkey’s pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) also managed to secure seats in the parliament.
