Should UK Labour Party leadership frontrunner Jeremy Corbyn win the forthcoming election, the politician may join the campaign for the United Kingdom to leave the European Union, UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — In recent weeks, Corbyn has refused several times to clarify whether he would, as Labour leader, campaign to stay in or exit the European Union, saying only that the bloc is imperfect and needs reform.

"The rise of political parties opposed to the EU’s asylum policy and to Schengen can only continue. And whilst I have absolutely no faith in the wisdom of his economics, his [Corbyn’s] victory is seriously good news for the ‘No’ campaign in the forthcoming EU referendum," Farage wrote on Breitbart News Network, a US-based conservative news and opinion website.

The Labour leadership vote will be held September 10, as the Labour leader Ed Miliband resigned after the party's loss in the May general elections.

Farage also noted that businesses and people in the United Kingdom were paying a heavy price for the Common European Asylum Policy amid the migrant crisis in Europe.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged to hold a referendum on Britain's EU membership by the end of 2017. Prior to the vote, he intends to renegotiate the terms of the UK's membership, including a request for greater autonomy in defining migration policy.

The situation in the northern French port of Calais has been in the spotlight in recent weeks, with thousands of undocumented migrants attempting to enter the United Kingdom through the Channel Tunnel.
