The Eurogroup's session on Greece's new loan request has ended its work for the day and will continue on Sunday, Finnish Finance Minister Alexander Stubb said Sunday.

BRUSSELS (Sputnik) — Earlier on Saturday, the Eurogroup received the international creditors’ initial assessment of the Greek proposal required to secure a third bailout package. Finance ministers of the eurozone discussed whether to accept Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' loan request presented Thursday.

"End of [the] Eurogroup session. To be continued tomorrow," Stubb wrote in his official account on Twitter.

Greece, with its overall debt standing at some $350 billion, is struggling to repay the $270 billion it owes to its major international creditors, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Central Bank and eurozone countries.

A 28-member EU summit on Greece’s debt issue and whether the Greek economic reform proposals are sufficient to restart talks on further financial assistance for the debt-ridden country is to be held later in the day.

The Eurogroup's session on Greece's new loan request has ended its work for the day without any decision and will continue on Sunday at noon, Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem said Sunday.

Dijsselbloem said that the group had a thorough discussion on the Greek proposal and the promised reforms, as well as financial matters.

According to the Eurogroup president, the group will continue its work on Sunday at 11:00 am local time in Brussels.

The amount of additional financial aid to Greece was not discussed at Saturday's Eurogroup session, a source close to the negotiations said Sunday.

Earlier on Saturday, the Eurogroup received the international creditors’ initial assessment of the Greek proposal required to secure a third bailout package. Finance ministers of the eurozone discussed whether to accept Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' loan request presented Thursday.

"They only discussed the issue of reforms," the source told RIA Novosti
