Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have discussed the situation in Ukraine in a phone conversation ahead of the upcoming Normandy format ministerial meeting, the Kremlin press service said Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Normandy format, comprising Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine, is one of several formats in which Ukraine peace talks have been held. The four countries’ foreign ministers are set to meet in Paris, France on Tuesday.

“The Russian side again stressed the need for immediate cessation of attacks by Ukrainian forces on Donbass settlements, activating the political settlement process, solving issues regarding the constitutional reform, as well the socio-economic recovery of [Ukraine's] southeastern regions,” the press service said.
