An Iranian diplomat said that the Iranian delegation is ready to continue talks on the nation's controversial nuclear program with six world powers throughout the night.

LAUSANNE (Sputnik) – The Iranian delegation is ready to continue talks on the nation's controversial nuclear program with six world powers throughout the night, an Iranian diplomat said late on Monday.

"The Iranian delegation is ready to hold talks all night," the Iranian diplomat told journalists on condition of anonymity.

This came as the deadline nears for negotiators to frame a preliminary agreement on Iranian nuclear program.

This round of talks, underway in the Swiss city of Lausanne, is expected to wrap up by Tuesday night, although delegates indicated to media that the negotiations could continue into the early hours of Wednesday. The final deal is expected to be reached by the end of June.

Foreign ministers from the six countries – Russia, China, Britain, France, the United States and Germany – were holding coordination meetings throughout Monday, without the participation of the Iranian delegation.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov left the talks earlier in the day, leaving his deputy Sergei Ryabkov to represent Moscow at the Tuesday meetings. A source in the Russian delegation told Sputnik that the minister may return Tuesday if the P5+1 group reaches an agreement.
