    Temple of Baal-Shamin in Palmyra, Syria

    The Syrian city of Palmyra was one of the most important centers of the Ancient World. But after Daesh terrorists had captured it, the city's cultural heritage was almost entirely destroyed.

    On March 2, 2017, the Syrian Army backed by the Russian Aerospace Forces completely liberated Palmyra from Daesh. Take a look at the city's ruins before and after the terrorist invasion in Sputnik's photo gallery.
