The skating rink in Gorky Park is one of Europe’s largest rinks with a synthetic all-weather surface. It covers a space of more than 18,000 square meters. In 2013, more than 500,000 people visited the rink over 120 days.
One of the largest artificial skating rinks in Europe opened Friday, at Gorky Park in Moscow. This year, it was designed in the style of pop-art.
Colorful and ironic images inspired by Roy Lichtenstein’s works filled the space of the skating rink. They are visible everywhere – from entrance tickets to facades.
Symbolic Russian images are incorporated into the space of luminance pop-art installations, according to the press-office. They have been given new interpretations through the art movement whose mission it was to explore mass produced culture.

This year, the skating rink has one new location – a stage for holding events.
A figure skating school will hold classes at the rink.
The park has another surprise – classes of pair skating. They classes will be taught by Pavel and Anastasia Ivanov, winners of international contests and participants of figure skating shows in Moscow and Europe.
This year, there will be permanent tickets for weekdays and weekends. Pensioners are allowed to the rink for free each Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
