The second most prestigious prize at the festival, the Grand Prix, was won by the film Reality by Matteo Garrone from Italy. Reality had not been considered one of the favorites so it was a big surprise to everyone when it won the Grand Prix and even drew some whistles from the audience.

The famous film festival on the French Riviera presented its awards on Sunday. The Cannes Palme d’Or went to Austrian director Michael Haneke for his film Amour, the story of a man who keeps his promise to stay with his wife to the very end.
