People from all over the world come to partake in the spirit of a nonstop party that takes over the city. There are hundreds of different events each day as part of the festival.
Street performers are at every corner in the city, each one trying their best to impress visitors, as rumors of the best shows spread quickly at the Fringe.
There's something for everyone at the Fringe. Despite the huge scale of the festival, the city manages to avoid large crowds so many people come with their families.
However, performers need to keep in mind that this is a huge arts market, and there are strict rules of competition. Even musicians performing in the street must abide by these rules: performances on every street and in every square are strictly regulated.
There is fierce competition to attract viewers, who can easily get lost in this endless sea of performances. There are more than 2,500 shows at the Fringe this year.
It's somewhat easier for well-established artists. Posters with their names are enough to attract a full house, which is exactly what happens during each performance of Fascinating Aida.
The ShadyJane trio, on the other hand, decided to attract viewers with an unusual experiment. Their performance about famous drowned women takes place in a bathroom stall, which can accommodate only ten people per show.
There are no rules at the festival, and no selection committees. The Fringe motto is: “You can perform, if you have something to show”.
