MOSCOW, June 1 (RIA Novosti) - The Sixth International Chekhov Theatre Festival opens in Moscow on Wednesday. It will last for two summer months, June and July, and will close on July 30. Once in two years, the theatres from different countries bring their best plays to the Russian capital.

During these years, three main festival programs have been formed: a world series, experimental and youth programs, and also a program of the Moscow theatres.

Among the well known theatres, arriving in Moscow, is the French Theatre Academy, Comedie Francaise. It brings Ostrovsky's "Forest," staged by Russian producer Pyotr Fomenko. This is the first time that the Moliere House (another name for the Comedie Francaise) has staged the play by the Russian classic.

The festival will open in the Aquarium Park in front of the Mossovet Theatre with an unusual "down performance." Clown Slava Polunin is its organizer and inspirer. "I have invited very talented people from all over the world who are capable to work wonders. In the evening of June 1, the Aquarium Park and the trees and benches in it will turn in a down miracle. All things around will be silver white. These clothes for the park will be made from goose down by artist Alexei Kostroma. 250 kilograms of down have already been collected for this purpose," Slava Polunin said.
