IVANOVO, April 5 (RIA Novosti) - A pensioner in central Russia’s Ryazan Region has given her entire savings of 1.5 million rubles ($48,000) to a “clairvoyant” who promised to lift a spell purportedly cast on her family, the Interior Ministry said on Friday.
The 70-year-old pensioner was approached in the street by an unknown woman who said a spell had been put on her and her family and all her money had to be “cleansed.”
The pensioner first went home and gave the woman about 600,000 rubles, and then went to a bank and withdrew about 900,000.
The “clairvoyant” put the money into a bag and told the pensioner to place it under her mattress.
In the morning the woman found her money “cleansed” with blank pieces of paper instead of the banknotes.
Police officers are looking for the con artist.
