New security measures proposed by German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere, including facilitating migrant deportations, will only complicate life of asylum seekers in Germany, while the country will gain nothing in terms of its people's security, Die Linke (The Left) party spokesman Martin Bialluch told Sputnik on Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The proposed measures, devised in response to recent terrorist attacks in Germany, include steps to make it easier to deport migrants deemed to be a threat to public security, stripping dual nationals who fought for terrorist organizations abroad of their German citizenship, banning the burka and loosening medical confidentiality.

"Life of migrants in Germany will become more difficult, but there will be no security gain for the people in Germany," Bialluch said.

He stressed that the Die Linke focused on preventive measures like better integration and more social work, rather than repression.

Security steps presented by the interior minister envisage the deportation of persons who have presented false information about their identity, have committed offenses or pose other threats to public safety.

"We don’t consider these measures to be effective. They mainly get tough on migrants. These measures tighten laws on migrants remaining in Germany by making deportation easier," Bialluch added.

The new security measures were proposed in the wake of the two lone-wolf attacks in Germany's Bavaria in July, both claimed by the Islamic State jihadist group, which is banned in Germany and Russia as well as many other countries, and the Munich stabbing carried by a Syrian asylum seeker.
