Last week, parliamentary authorities gave the green light for plans to allow as many as 120 members of parliament to participate in virtual sessions via the video conferencing software programme Zoom.

The House of Commons has convened the first "virtual" meeting in its history amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Fifty lawmakers are present in the chamber under strict distancing measures, while 120 are joining the talks via videoconference.

As of Tuesday, the UK has more than 120,00 confirmed cases of coronavirus and more than 16,000 fatalities, according to World Health Organisation.
