Bugged Out: Insect the Size of a Human Arm

This enormous stick insect is 64 centimeters (25 inches), making it the longest bug in the world. Known as the Chinese Giant Stick Insect, it is housed in the Museum of Rare Insects in Chengdu, China.

The record-setting bug belongs to the third generation of stick insects. First found in Guangxi province in 2014 and then bred in the museum. According to Zhao Li, Curator at the Chengdu Huaxi Insect Museum, this generation of stick insects turned out to be larger than the previous ones, which grew to a length of 62.4 centimeters (24.6 inches).
