Moscow Zoo Welcomes Sweet Newborn Elephant

The newest addition to the Moscow Zoo was named Filimon. At birth, he weighed almost 90 kilos! The baby elephant was shown to the public for the first time on June 20, which is commemorated as International Day of Action for Elephants in Zoos.

Filimon loves to play: he raises sticks with his trunk and scatters the grass. So far, he spends most of his time with his mother Pipita.

The birth of a baby elephant is a significant event, not only for Moscow but for the whole country: there are only 11 elephants living in Russian zoos, and four of them are inhabitants of the Moscow Zoo, the zoo press service revealed.
