A ridiculously expensive Lamborghini Murciélago was recently destroyed in front of a crowd of media and two horrified children in Taiwan.

According to Focus Taiwan, the $315,000 car was ordered to be destroyed after the owner of the vehicle was stopped at a check point in 2013 and it was revealed that he had fake license plates for the car. Under the law, the vehicle was immediately impounded by the police.

A legal battle with authorities ensued for three years. The car's owner, a commercial pilot surnamed Lin filed appeal after appeal, but to no avail.

On Wednesday, he sent a friend to try and prevent his car from being demolished, but after 30 minutes of discussion, the authorities ordered the procedure to go ahead.
