VIENNA (Sputnik) — Russia and Oman have joined a committee tasked with monitoring the agreement to cut output by oil producers outside the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Iraqi Oil Minister Jabar Luaibi said Saturday.
The meeting of non-OPEC countries took place in Vienna earlier in the day in the wake of the OPEC decision to cut oil production by 1.2 million barrels per day on November 30. The countries, including Russia, Oman, Mexico, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, agreed to a cut of some 600,000 barrels per day in an effort to stabilize the oil market.
"Yes," Luaibi said in response to a question on whether the two countries made up the committee to oversee the implementation of the cuts.
