Tony Blair Could Face 'Severe' Consequences Amid Push for Fresh Iraq War Inquiry
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The petition, which has already gathered about 22,000 signatures, was launched by a group of lawmakers from different parties, including the Scottish National Party (SNP), as well as by representatives of the Welsh Plaid Cymru party and the Green Party of England and Wales, as well as several members from both the Conservative Party and the Labour Party.

The motion was launched on the basis of the revelations made in an official report of Sir John Chilcot on the United Kingdom's role in the Iraq invasion in 2003. The Chilcot Inquiry released in July 2016 after six years of deliberations, found that the UK government under Blair's leadership made a mistake invading Iraq, as the decision to join the war was made on the basis of flawed intelligence data and assessments.
