UK Foreign Office Claims Protest Action Near Russian Embassy Was Peaceful

The protest action near the Russian embassy on Thursday was peaceful, and diplomatic police was in close contact with the Russian embassy employees, the UK Foreign Office representative told RIA Novosti Friday responding to a note of protest from the Russian diplomatic mission.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Thursday, the Russian embassy in the United Kingdom said that it was concerned over London’s unwillingness to ensure security of the Russian diplomatic mission, the work of which was disrupted amid an unauthorized protest action nearby.

"We understand from the police that a small, peaceful protest took place outside the Russian Embassy yesterday afternoon. Diplomatic Police were in place throughout, remaining in close contact with Russian Embassy staff. No arrests were made," the representative stressed.
