Putin Cancels October 19 Visit to France
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — He expressed confidence that the newly opened center would become a worthy cultural attraction in Paris, while its activity would preserve and consolidate friendship and mutual respect between the people of Russia and France.

"The creation of this unique complex served as visible testimony to the strength of Russian-French cultural and humanitarian ties, our people's mutual desire for constructive dialogue and cooperation," Putin said in a message congratulating with the Center's opening.

The Russian president was supposed to visit Paris to attend the opening ceremony of the center and to meet with his French counterpart Francois Hollande, however, the planned visit was later cancelled.

The center is located at the intersection of Quai Branly and Rapp Avenue. It will host an Orthodox church, a Russian-French school, and an exhibition hall.
