MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the newspaper, there are several candidates to replace Ushakov, including Russia's ambassador to China Andrey Denisov, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov and some high-ranking officials in the Foreign Ministry.
The Kommersant also reported that the Kremlin spokesman, commenting on the information about Ushakov's resignation, said there were "no signs" of such move.
The newspaper stressed, citing the sources in the government, that neither the Kremlin, nor the government ever had complaints about Ushakov's work.
According to the sources, even after the departure of the current work Ushakov is ready to devote himself to the diplomatic work, going to one of the European countries as an ambassador.
Yuri Ushakov holds the position of Russian presidential aide since May 21, 2012. Before that, he spent four years working the deputy chief of the government staff.
