Over 150 Int'l Terrorists Killed in 2015 With SCO Assistance - Chief

Over 150 members of international terrorist organizations were killed in 2015 with the assistance of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO), SCO Secretary-General Rashid Alimov said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On May 30-31, Moscow hosts a conference called "Russia and China: Taking on New Quality of Bilateral Relations" devoted to the 15th anniversary of the conclusion of the bilateral Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation.

"Over 150 members of international terrorist organization were killed with the assistance of RATS in 2015, about 1,000 supporters of terrorists were detained, nearly 2,000 units of weapons and improvised explosive devices and over 150,000 units of ammunition were seized," Alimov told journalists at the conference.

According to Alimov, 12 organizations were added to the international terrorist groups list and 160 people were included to the unified international wanted list in 2015.

At least 1,246 people were included to the list of persons, who left SCO member states in 2015 for participation in armed conflicts, the organization's cheif added.

The SCO is a political, economic and military alliance founded in 2001 by Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Belarus, Mongolia, Iran, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan hold observer status in the organization.
