MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The ISSG was formed in November 2015, shortly after the beginning of the Syria peace talks in Vienna, as a panel of countries seeking to end bloodshed in Syria. It is co-chaired by Moscow and Washington. Other members are the European Union, the Arab League, China, Iran, Turkey, and the United Nations.
“So far there’s talk that the meeting may be held on May 17 in Vienna on the ministerial level,” the source told RIA Novosti.
He said Syrian peace talks would most likely start after the ministerial level meeting.
“I think that the intra-Syrian talks will most likely begin after the ministerial meeting,” he said.
