MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia's lower house of parliament, the State Duma, will appeal to parliaments across the world on Friday to create a broad international anti-terrorism coalition, Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin said Thursday.
"The State Duma Council has approved the proposal for international activity on adopting an appeal to parliaments and international parliament organizations to create a united anti-terrorism coalition," Naryshkin said.
The speaker's statement comes following two Tuesday suicide attacks at the Brussels Airport departure hall in the northeastern municipality of Zaventem and another explosion at the Maelbeek station near EU institutions. At least 31 people were killed and 300 were injured in the attacks.
The Islamic State jihadist group, outlawed in many countries including Russia, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
