Moscow police will escalate counterterrorism measures amid the terrorist attacks in Brussels.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Moscow police will step up efforts against extremism following the terrorist attacks in Brussels, head of the Russian Interior Ministry's Main Directorate for Moscow Anatoly Yakunin said Wednesday.

"In September 2015, as the active phase of the anti-terrorism operation in Syria began, the terrorist threat in Moscow noticeably increased. Patrols were increased, the places of stay of foreign citizens were located… In light of yesterday's terrorist attacks in Belgium, we have resumed this work," Yakunin told reporters.
