Moscow is not providing any military assistance in the fight against terrorists to any Syrian opposition group "on the ground," Russian Ambassador to Syria Alexander Kinshchak said.

DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — The envoy noted that Russia could only propose the Syrian leadership on the distribution of the humanitarian aid.

"Russia is providing military assistance only to the government of Syria. We do not provide weapons to anyone ‘on the ground’ and do not sponsor anyone," Kinshchak told RIA Novosti in an interview.

Moscow has also been providing the beleaguered Syrian civilian population with humanitarian aid.
