Russian cosmonauts Yury Malenchenko and Sergei Volkov conducted a spacewalk on the International Space Station (ISS). They performed an experiment called "Restoration," as part of the Russian plan of repair works on the ISS.

However, the new suits have not yet been delivered to the ISS, so they were working in standard Orlan-MK spacesuits.

Initially, it was supposed that Volkov and Malenchenko would don the new Russian spacesuit – Orlan-MKS, with an automatic thermoregulation system. However, the new suits have not yet been delivered to the ISS, so they were working in standard Orlan-MK spacesuits.

It was not the first time when ISS crew members have taken selfies in outer space. On August 17, 2014, Russian cosmonaut Gennadiy Padalka published a selfie he had taken during his tenth spacewalk.
