Russian Journalists Attacked in Syria, at Least Three Wounded
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Monday, a group of Russian journalists en route to Syrian government army front-line positions was shelled when it was passing the village of Al-Dagmashliya in the province of Latakia.

Two RT TV channel reporters Roman Kosarev and Sargon Hadaya and Russian TASS news agency correspondent Alexander Elistratov have been transported by a Russian Il-62M military transport aircraft.

According to the Russian reporters, Islamic State and Nusra Front militants knew the passengers in the car were journalists.

"We were fully equipped, according to the Geneva Convention, in blue vests and blue helmets with the inscription 'Press.' It was obvious where we are and who we are, but they opened fire," Kosarev said.

According to the RT reporter, the Syrian military even asked them to remove the press helmets because they were a specific target for terrorists.

The journalists said they were ready to return to Syria to continue performing their professional duties.
