France and Russia Defeated ‘More Formidable Enemy’ Than ISIL Before
PARIS (Sputnik) – French Prime Minister Manuel Valls expressed hope Friday that French President Francois Hollande and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin would be able to reach agreement on the anti-ISIL fight coordination during their upcoming Moscow meeting.

"A new situation emerged, and it allowed the [French] Republic’s president to come with a number of initiatives to create a coalition and [ensure] coordination locally on condition that the enemy is the Islamic State, and that strikes should target only IS," Valls stated, speaking in the upper house of the French parliament.

At the same time, he expressed doubt that there would be any changes in both countries' approaches and that the leader's discussion would incite progress on the issue.

Valls also reminded that the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for both the explosion on board a Russian A321 passenger airliner, crashed in Egypt on October 21, and the November 13 terror attacks in Paris.

The meeting between Putin and Hollande is scheduled for November 26. The leaders will discuss the current situation in Syria, the fight against terrorism and Russian-French military cooperation, according to Russia’s presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.
