MOSCOW (Sputnik) — China's high ranking officials visited the Ufa Engine Industrial Association, a part of Russia's United Engine Corporation (UEC), where both sides expressed interest in further expansion of cooperation in the field of aircraft engines, the UEC press service said Wednesday.
"Senior management of the United Engine Corporation discussed with the state and military leadership of the People's Republic of China further development of cooperation in the field of production, supply and maintenance of aviation equipment," the press service said in a statement.
The Chinese delegation was represented by Minister of Industry and Information Miao Wei, Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission Gen. Xu Qiliang, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui, Chairman of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) Lin Zuoming and high ranking officials from the command of the People's Liberation Army of China.
Several thousand UEC-made engines are in operation in China, including the Saturn AL-31F turbofan engine powering the Sukhoi Su-27/Su-30 fighter aircraft, its modification AL-31FN designed specifically for the Chinese Chengdu J-10 single-engine multirole fighter and the Soloviev D-30KP/KU low-bypass turbofan engines.
