ANTALYA (Sputnik) Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Turkey during the G20 Summit that countries need to show unity in the fight against terrorism.

“We need to show unity. First of all, this unity needs to be shown in the fight against terrorism,” Renzi said.

Renzi's statement follows the November 13 suicide-bomb and gun attacks in Paris, which killed over 130 people. The violent Islamic State extremist group took responsibility for the attacks.

The G20 Summit is taking place in the Turkish city of Antalya on November 15-16. Global economy issues, the refugee crisis and the fight against terrorism are on the agenda.

The summit is also a platform for the Russian president's meetings with other world leaders, including Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Chinese leader Xi Jinping and US President Barack Obama.

The Group of Twenty (G20) comprises the European Union and 19 states, including Russia, China, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, India among others.
