The possible exit of Greece from the Eurozone will not result in Russia lifting the food import embargo from Athens, Russia’s First Deputy Minister of Economic Development Alexei Likhachev said on Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia ruled out lifting food embargo the country had imposed on the EU members in relation to Athens as Greece remains part of the bloc.

"These two issues are not related, in my opinion… As far as I am aware, Greece's exit from the European Union is not being discussed… Therefore, while remaining a part of this economic and political union, Greece will be a participant of the sanctions decisions which were implemented towards Russia. Therefore, the fact of Greece's presence in the eurozone does not, in my opinion, establish a connection with our retaliatory measures," Likhachev said.
