"We are very interested in strengthening the relationship with Russia, with you personally, Mister President," Sisi said in a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Victory Day festivities in Moscow.
"There are many spheres where we can cooperate — the fight against terrorism, for example," Sisi stressed.
Following the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Egypt in February, the sides agreed to increase military-technical, trade, security and economic cooperation.
Russia and Egypt have also agreed to develop cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. In February, the two countries signed an agreement on the participation of Russian nuclear energy corporation Rosatom in construction of Egypt's first nuclear power plant.
On February 16, following the execution of of 21 Egyptian Christian Copts by Islamic State militants, the Russian leader said in a letter to his Egyptian counterpart that Moscow is ready to closely cooperate with Cairo in the fight against terrorism.
In early March, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Moscow and Cairo agreed to conduct joint naval exercises in the Mediterranean Sea and anti-terrorism drills in 2015.
