The Mikoyan and Gurevich Design Bureau, now known as the Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG, was founded on December 8, 1939. Aircraft designed by the bureau became the mainstay of the Soviet and Russian air forces.
One of the earlier models, MiG-21, even became the most widely-produced supersonic jet in history, and the most widely-produced combat aircraft since the Korean War. Fast, sleek and deadly, MiG aircraft have been widely used by air forces all across the world.
