On Thursday, Amnesty International called on Indonesia to halt the planned executions, stressing that the death penalty is a human rights violation.

Under Indonesian law, the death penalty can be given to those found guilty of drug trafficking.

According to Amnesty International, Indonesia has 20 executions scheduled for this year.
