The show is filled with humor in order to impel people to smile despite the atrocities and violence of the Syrian war.

MOSCOW, November 9 (RIA Novosti) — People all around the world will soon be able to watch a new YouTube comedy show about the Syrian war, where children play the roles of adult characters like housewives, fighters, or neighbors, AFP reports.

The movie is set in the Syrian city of Aleppo and depicts everyday life in its opposition-held regions. The 3-year-long fighting and violence has led to the destruction and devastation of many neighborhoods, but the city still remains home to ordinary people like female protagonist Umm Abdo, who tries to live a normal life in the war-torn country.

Umm Abdo, a traditional Syrian housewife played by a 9-year old girl, scolds Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad and derides the country’s authoritative social norms with an irony that makes the audience laugh.

The series are designed to break people's sadness and impel people to smile despite the atrocities and violence transpiring throughout the nation, Bashar Hadi, the show’s director, told AFP. According to Haidi, the comedy genre was chosen because "humour goes straight to the heart". He had also decided to shoot only children to raise attention to the sorrows of the Syrian people.

The show, which is considered totally anti-regime, became very popular online and the producers are currently discussing the possibility of broadcasting it on Arab television channels.
