WASHINGTON, October 7 (RIA Novosti) - The relations between Russia and Brazil will remain unchanged notwithstanding the outcome of the presidential election in the Latin American country, Director of Center for Hemispheric Policy in Miami Susan Purcell told RIA Novosti in an interview.

"Brazil and Russia will keep good relationship no matter who wins the elections," Purcell said Monday, noting however, that both countries might face certain challenges, if oil prices fall.

Purcell also stressed that both presidential candidates would have to maintain good economic relationship with the United States, since it is going to be one of the only steadily growing economies.

The expert, though, noted that the resident Dilma Rousseff, if reelected, would have to change Brazil's relationship with the United States.

"Country's economy is in bad shape … the exports of commodities are going down and the global economy is growing very slow. It will be very self-defeating for her not to improve relationship with the United States … for economic reasons," she explained.

On Sunday, Brazil's incumbent president Dilma Rousseff from the Worker's Party (Partido dos Trabalhadores, PT) and Social Democracy Party (PSDB) candidate Aécio Neves received 41,5 and 33,7 percent of the votes respectively. The second round of elections is scheduled for October 26.
