DUBAI, August 6 (RIA Novosti) – United Arab Emirates Vice President and the monarch of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has ordered to continue the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, Dubai newspaper Khaleej Times reported on Wednesday.

Dubai has sent 17 Boeing 747 and C130 flights carrying medicine, food and other essentials to Gaza. Planes to Jordan’s capital Amman delivered the freight for further over ground delivery to the embattled strip. The 18th plane from Dubai was sent to Brindisi, Italy, also a transportation hub for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Additional aid-carrying flights will be organized this weekend. The total cost of the food and essentials sent from Dubai is more than $6 million.

Gaza is in the midst of a 72-hour truce, and hopes to convince Israel and Palestine to enter indirect talks about the conditions for the final settlement of the conflict, now ongoing for four weeks.

More than 1,800 Palestinians have been killed during the conflict, according to local medical services. The Israeli Army, in turn, has lost 64 soldiers and officers. Another three civilians, including a Thai migrant worker, are victims of Palestinian rockets and bombs.
