MOSCOW, August 3 (RIA Novosti) – The policy, advocated by US President Barack Obama, poses an immediate threat to the country’s sovereignty and national security, the analysis of the 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review, made by US Department of Defense, said.

The authors of the report strongly criticized Obama’s foreign, defense and national security policy. In particular, the review cites the “reduction in the Air Force’s decisive enabling capabilities,” which “will put this nation's national security strategy at much higher risk.”

Automatic budget cuts, known as the sequester, were also condemned by the authors, as they prevent the country’s authorities “to align resources with national security priorities.”

Budget cuts will also affect the country’s economy, as well as other sectors, the review concluded.

“Sustaining these significant cuts to our defense budgets will not solve our fiscal woes, but will increasingly jeopardize our international defense posture and ultimately damage our security, prospects for economic growth, and other interests,” it elaborated.

According to the review, the United States should immediately reconsider this policy to avoid the situation when it would be unable to respond to the threats to national security. The authors urge Congress and the Department of State to work jointly with political authorities to tackle the issues “of waste and inefficiency.”

The 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review released every four years was analyzed jointly by the National Defense Panel and the United States Institute of Peace.
