MOSCOW, July 15 (RIA Novosti) - Palestinian militants continue rocket attacks from Gaza Strip on Tuesday, ignoring Israel’s ceasefire, military spokesperson said Tuesday.

“From 9.00 a.m. local time [06.00 GMT] about 35 rockets were launched at Israel. In particular, one at a neighborhood in Haifa, three more were intercepted over Ashkelon, Ofakim and Rehovot,” one of the latest military statements said.

One of the rockets fell on one of the largest southern cities Ashdod, damaging a residential building.

Earlier today, Israel has agreed to accept Egypt’s ceasefire proposal in the conflict with Gaza Strip militants, the government’s spokesperson said Tuesday. The ceasefire went into effect at 9:00 a.m. local time (06:00 GMT). There has been no official agreement to a ceasefire from the Hamas movement in Gaza.

Last week Israel Defense Forces launched the Protective Edge operation in response to continued rocket attacks carried out by Palestinian militants. Over 1,450 targets have been hit in Gaza, including 770 rocket launchers, 69 training camps and 63 facilities for producing and storing weapons.

A total of 172 people have been killed in Gaza and another 1,250 have been wounded.

Palestinians have fired over 980 rockets on the areas where 5 million Israelis live, out of a total population of 8 million, but attacks have not resulted in any casualties on the Israeli side so far.
